Dogs are some of our favorite guests at Chickadee & Pine. Over the years we’ve welcomed many wonderful dogs — energetic beach runners, curious garden explorers, and older pups who simply want a quiet place by the fire.
For many guests, dogs are part of the family, and we love knowing who will be arriving along with their people.
Whidbey Island is a wonderful place to explore together. Long walks, quiet country roads, beaches, and cozy evenings back at the cabin make it a perfect getaway for both people and their dogs.
Our space tends to be a wonderful fit for well-mannered dogs who travel comfortably and settle easily in new places.

Both the Cottage and the Cabin include a few simple comforts to help your dog feel at home:
• a dog bed (washed between each visit)
• food and water bowls
• pet towels for muddy paws
• a jar of dog treats waiting on the counter
At the Cabin you’ll also find a big tub of tennis balls by the door, ready for games outside.
After a day at the beach, there is also an outdoor rinse area where sandy paws can be washed off before coming inside
Whidbey Island is a wonderful place to explore with your dog. A few nearby favorites include:
• Double Bluff Beach — one of the island’s most loved off-leash beaches
• Ebey’s Landing — scenic bluff walks with sweeping water views
• Fort Ebey State Park — forest trails and open fields perfect for wandering
Many guests say their dogs sleep especially well after a day of island exploring.
Chickadee & Pine is a small retreat, and both the Cottage and the Cabin share parts of the garden paths and outdoor areas.
Because guests sometimes arrive with dogs who are unfamiliar with each other, we recommend keeping dogs on a lead when walking through shared spaces. This helps avoid unexpected meetings and keeps everyone — people and pups — comfortable.
The open lawn areas are a wonderful place for dogs to stretch their legs when supervised.
You may meet a few familiar faces during your stay.
Zoe, our older Jack Russell, considers herself the boss of Chickadee & Pine. If you see her making her rounds through the garden, it usually means we’re nearby and Cinnamon, our charming King cavalier 'Grandpuppy' who we get the privlage of entertaining occationally.
Our neighbor’s dog Bella, an older mixed breed, occasionally wanders through the area. She is very gentle and mostly interested in chasing bunnies, paying little attention to people or other dogs.

Because Chickadee & Pine is surrounded by nature, wildlife is part of life on Whidbey Island. Coyotes, owls, and eagles all live in the area.
For that reason, we recommend keeping a close eye on dogs when they are outdoors, especially smaller dogs, and avoiding leaving them outside unattended.
It’s simply a good habit in rural areas and helps keep everyone safe.
