Our Story
Chickadee & Pine grew from our love of making things — gardens, spaces, and moments that invite people to slow down.
I dream up projects; Dimitri builds them. He’s a glass artist whose work fills the cabins with light and warmth (and he keeps the woodpiles high enough to outlast any Whidbey winter). I find joy in hosting, tending the gardens, and blending small-batch bath products inspired by our outdoor tubs. Dogs are part of life here too — including Zoe, our older Jack Russell who has appointed herself the quiet boss of the property.
Together with our daughter, Dimitri is designing a new line of handmade glassware — pieces you’ll see and use during your stay.
We believe that food and wine simply taste better when shared and served from something made by hand.
Chickadee & Pine insn't a polished resort or luxury retreat. It's a hand made place, shaped slowley over time—a litttle rustic, a little creative, and full of small details meant to help people feel at home.
When guests arrive, we hope Chickadee & Pine feels less like a rental and more like a place to settle into. Light the sauna, soak in the outdoor tub, listen for the frogs in the spring or the owls at night. Make dinner with good ingredients, pour a glass of wine, and slow down for a while.
That's the kind of stay we try to create.
