Nestled beneath tall cedars, Pine Cone Cabin & Goat Barn Studio offer a handcrafted Whidbey Island retreat for two. Enjoy a gas fireplace, full kitchen, outdoor soaking tub, and firepit under the stars. The Goat Barn adds cozy charm with a wood stove, record player, games, and books. Shared sauna, outdoor shower, and cold plunge complete this peaceful, creative island escape

Tucked beneath tall cedars on Whidbey’s quiet southwest tip, Pine Cone Cabin and the Goat Barn Studio share a peaceful patch of woods filled with birds, deer, and squirrels. Mornings are slow with coffee on the deck and sunlight through the trees; evenings bring the firepit, old records, and that soft island quiet that feels a little magical. With a wood stove, books, and access to a shared sauna, shower, and cold plunge, it’s a cozy Whidbey retreat made for slowing down.

Guests have full access to the cabin, Goat Barn Studio, and all the outdoor spaces. Enjoy the deck off the bedroom, outdoor soaking tub, picnic tables, and firepit under the trees. The Goat Barn is yours for games, movies, or creative time by the wood stove. Well-behaved dogs are welcome—there’s plenty of room to roam and sniff around the gardens. You’ll also have access to the shared wood-fired sauna, outdoor shower, and cold plunge, shared only with Chickadee Cottage.

We like to give guests plenty of space to unwind but are nearby if you need anything. You might see us around tending the gardens or adding more firewood. Feel free to ask for local tips—or help lighting the sauna! We love sharing favorite beaches, hikes, and farm stands, but mostly we’ll let you enjoy the quiet countryside, the firepit, and the magic of Whidbey at your own pace

Whidbey Island is a beautiful and peaceful place nestled between the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. It is surrounded by the calm waters of the Puget Sound. The island is known for its stunning scenery with tall trees and breathtaking views. The southern end of the island is especially attractive to artists and writers because of its tranquil charm.

The Cabin is a secluded retreat located in a quiet rural neighborhood. It provides a peaceful escape from the busy world, surrounded by peaceful silence and nature. Just a short drive away is the charming town of Langley, which offers delicious restaurants, unique antique shops, and exceptional coffee.

If you're looking for adventure, a quick drive will take you to the Clinton/Mukilteo Ferry, which opens up a world of possibilities. You can also visit Maxwelton beach, just a few minutes away, to enjoy the sun and waters.

Whidbey Island is a national treasure that never fails to captivate. Langley is a charming town with great food, interesting antiques, and aromatic coffee. There are also historical sites like Ft Casey State Park and Ebey's Landing, as well as the impressive Deception Pass Bridge. Each community on the island has its own unique charm.

You can take a ferry to Port Townsend, a beautiful and cultural city. Further north, you can explore the stunning San Juan Islands. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even travel to British Columbia, Canada.

Having a car is crucial for island living. While there is a convenient and free Public Island Transit service available, the bus stop is about a mile away from the Cabin and operates on a limited schedule. Bikes are a great way to see the island, and our local Maxwelton beach is especially popular among kayakers.

Life on South Whidbey moves at an easy pace. We don’t have 24-hour grocery stores or late-night restaurants, but we do have farm stands, cute local shops, and great farmers’ markets. If you plan to go fishing or crabbing, grab a license from Sebo’s Hardware or Jim’s Hardware—they’ll get you set up so you can enjoy the day without worry.

The cabin and Goat Barn sit on a quiet stretch of forest, so you’ll likely see deer, rabbits, and plenty of birds. The sauna, outdoor shower, and cold plunge are shared with Chickadee Cottage next door, with clear signs posted for privacy. The property is dog-friendly—just keep pups leashed outdoors and tidy up after them. During winter storms, the power may flicker; we keep lanterns, blankets, and plenty of charm on hand to make it cozy.
