Chickadee Cottage at Chickadee & Pine

Tucked along a quiet country lane, Chickadee Cottage is a peaceful, handcrafted Whidbey Island retreat surrounded by gardens, tall trees, and birdsong. Sleeping up to four guests, it’s a lovely place for a romantic getaway, an anniversary weekend, a trip with friends, or a few slow days away with family.

Mornings here begin slowly—coffee on the sunny deck, birds in the garden, and nowhere you need to be. Spend the afternoon reading beneath the trees or exploring Whidbey, then come home for a long soak in your private outdoor tub, an evening around the firepit, or a wood-fired sauna beneath the cedars.

The Cottage has two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen for home-cooked meals, an outdoor grill, garden seating, and plenty of quiet corners to settle into. You’ll have full access to the Cottage’s upper floor, deck, gardens, and private outdoor spaces, including the outdoor soaking tub, firepit, grill, and picnic area.

You’ll also have access to our shared wood-fired cedar sauna, outdoor shower, and cold plunge, shared only with Pine Cone Cabin nearby. Clear signs let you know when the area is open or in use, so you can enjoy the space privately and at your own pace.

A quiet corner of South Whidbey

Chickadee Cottage is tucked into a quiet rural neighborhood on the southwest side of Whidbey Island, just a few minutes from Maxwelton Beach and a short drive from the seaside town of Langley. Spend the day exploring beaches, forest trails, farm stands, restaurants, and small shops—or stay right here and do very little at all.

Life on South Whidbey moves at an easy pace. Deer often wander through the gardens, hummingbirds visit the flowers, and you’ll hear far more birds than traffic. It’s the kind of place that invites you to put down your phone, stay in your pajamas a little longer, and let the day unfold without much of a plan.

Dogs are very welcome at Chickadee & Pine, and we provide thoughtful extras to make traveling with your pup a little easier. Please keep dogs leashed outdoors and tidy up after them.

We like to give our guests plenty of space to unwind, but we’re nearby if you need anything. You might see us tending the gardens or adding more firewood. We’re always happy to share favorite beaches, trails, and island spots—or help get the sauna going—but mostly, we’ll let you enjoy the quiet and make the place your own.

A car is recommended for exploring the island. The Clinton ferry terminal is a short drive away, making Chickadee Cottage an easy getaway from Seattle while still feeling wonderfully removed from everyday life.

Although you may not see our neighbors, sound carries in the quiet countryside, so we ask guests to be mindful of the peaceful surroundings.
