Chickadee Cottage at Chickadee & Pine

Tucked along a quiet country lane, Chickadee Cottage is a peaceful, handcrafted retreat on Whidbey Island, surrounded by gardens, tall trees, and birdsong. With two bedrooms and room for four guests, it’s a lovely place for a romantic getaway, an anniversary, a weekend with friends, or a few slow days away with family.

Mornings begin slowly here—coffee on the sunny deck, birds in the garden, and nowhere you need to be. Spend the afternoon exploring Whidbey’s beaches and small towns, or find a quiet corner to read beneath the trees. Come home to a long soak in your private outdoor tub, dinner on the patio, or a wood-fired sauna beneath the cedars.

A cottage made for settling in

The Cottage has a king bedroom, a queen bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living spaces, and a sunny window seat made for reading. Outside, you’ll find garden seating, a gas grill, a picnic area, and a Solo Stove for evenings around the fire when local burn restrictions allow.

Your private outdoor soaking tub is tucked into the garden behind a linen privacy curtain, reserved exclusively for Cottage guests.

You’ll also have access to our shared wood-fired cedar sauna, cold plunge, and open-air shower. These amenities are shared only with Pine Cone Cabin nearby. A simple sign indicates when the area is in use, so you can enjoy the space privately and at your own pace.

A note about winter stays

We do our best to keep the outdoor soaking tub, shower, and cold plunge available throughout the year. During freezing weather, we may need to temporarily turn off the water or close these amenities to protect the plumbing. We reopen them as soon as temperatures allow. The wood-fired sauna remains available year-round.

A quiet corner of South Whidbey

We’re tucked into a peaceful rural neighborhood on the southwest side of Whidbey Island, just minutes from Maxwelton Beach and a short drive from the seaside town of Langley. Beaches, forest trails, farm stands, restaurants, and little shops are all within easy reach.

Deer wander through the gardens, hummingbirds visit the flowers, and you’ll hear far more birds than traffic. It’s the kind of place that invites you to put down your phone, stay in your pajamas a little longer, and let the day unfold without much of a plan.

Dogs are welcome, too. We provide thoughtful extras to make traveling with your pup a little easier. Please keep dogs leashed outdoors and tidy up after them.

We live nearby and enjoy giving guests plenty of space to unwind. You might see us tending the gardens or bringing in firewood. We’re always happy to help with the sauna or share a favorite beach or trail, but otherwise, we’ll leave you to enjoy the quiet.

A car is recommended for exploring the island. The Clinton ferry terminal is a short drive away, making Chickadee Cottage an easy escape from the Seattle area while feeling wonderfully removed from everyday life.
